This seems to be a representation of the person and dignity of Christ, and the mild and beneficent triumphs of his Gospel over all the powers of paganism. "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war." {Rev 19:11} + "And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean." {Rev 19:14} + "I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that [were] in the bottom; and behind him [were there] red horses, speckled, and white." {Zch 1:8} + "And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. ... Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country." {Zch 6:3-8}
and he that:
"Gird thy sword upon [thy] thigh, O [most] mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. ... Thine arrows [are] sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; [whereby] the people fall under thee." {Psa 45:3-5} + "Thou, [even] thou, [art] to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?" {Psa 76:7}
and a:
"And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud [one] sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle." {Rev 14:14} + " His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself." {Rev 19:12} + "Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set [them] upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest; ... Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both." {Zch 6:11-13} + "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." {Mtt 28:18}
and he went:
"And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become [the kingdoms] of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever." {Rev 11:15} + "And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth." {Rev 11:18} + "And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, [and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God." {Rev 15:2} + "These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful." {Rev 17:14} + "[[A Psalm.]] O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory." {Psa 98:1} + "The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies." {Psa 110:2} + "He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken [it]." {Isa 25:8} + "For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, ... Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ." {Rom 15:18-19} + "For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet." {1Co 15:25} + "O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory? ... But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." {1Co 15:55-57} + "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: ... Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" {2Co 10:3-5}
