{Jeremiah 16:18} And first 7223 I will recompense 7999 z8765 their iniquity 5771 and their sin 2403 double; 4932 because x5921 they have defiled 2490 z8763 x853 my land, 776 they have filled 4390 z8804 x853 mine inheritance 5159 with the carcases 5038 of their detestable 8251 and abominable things. 8441
first:
"Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction." {Jer 17:18} + "Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins." {Isa 40:2} + "For your shame [ye shall have] double; and [for] confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them." {Isa 61:7} + "Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double." {Rev 18:6}
they have defiled:
"And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination." {Jer 2:7} + "They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD. ... Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness." {Jer 3:1-2} + "And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks." {Jer 3:9} + "(For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which [were] before you, and the land is defiled;) ... That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that [were] before you." {Lev 18:27-28} + "So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye [are]: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it. ... Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel." {Num 35:33-34} + "And shed innocent blood, [even] the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood." {Psa 106:38} + "The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant." {Isa 24:5} + "Arise ye, and depart; for this [is] not [your] rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy [you], even with a sore destruction." {Mic 2:10} + "Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! ... The just LORD [is] in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame." {Zph 3:1-5}
the carcases:
"And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you." {Lev 26:30} + "And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence." {Ezk 11:18} + "But [as for them] whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD." {Ezk 11:21} + "And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, [neither] they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places. ... Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever." {Ezk 43:7-9}
