{Leviticus 22:2} Speak 1696 z8761 unto x413 Aaron 175 and to x413 his sons, 1121 that they separate y5144 z8735 themselves x5144 from the holy things 6944 x4480 of the children 1121 of Israel, 3478 and that they profane 2490 z8762 not x3808 x853 my holy 6944 name 8034 [in those things] which x834 they x1992 hallow 6942 z8688 unto me: I x589 [am] the LORD. 3068
"Say unto them, Whosoever [he be] of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I [am] the LORD. ... The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water." {Lev 22:3-6} + "Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that [is] among them." {Lev 15:31} + "He shall separate [himself] from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. ... All the days of his separation he [is] holy unto the LORD." {Num 6:3-8}
that they profane not:
This is the very ground of the prohibition, that they might preserve in their minds a holy reverence for the Divine Majesty. Hence when they approached unto him, they must be free from every legal impurity. If great men are to be approached with respect, how much more must Jehovah be approached with holy reverence! "Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I [am] the LORD which hallow you," {Lev 22:32} + "And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through [the fire] to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I [am] the LORD." {Lev 18:21} + "And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I [am] the LORD." {Lev 19:12} + "And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name." {Lev 20:3} + "They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, [and] the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy." {Lev 21:6}
hallow:
"That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males [shall be] the LORD'S." {Exd 13:12} + "And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD." {Exd 28:38} + "And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die." {Num 18:32} + "All the firstling males that come of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto the LORD thy God: thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy bullock, nor shear the firstling of thy sheep." {Deu 15:19}
